Proverbial Wisdom Project
"Run as fast as you can toward Jesus, then look to see who is keeping up"-Anonymous. The plan for this project was to make an engaging and sharable graphic for social media using only text and color that would appeal to our own social media following. With my target market in mind, I began to design.
Thumbnail Sketches
To begin, I started by making 16 thumbnail sketches to put my ideas on paper. Most of these sketches focused on large and small text by using design hierarchy. I wanted the audience's eye to see the larger text first.

Proverbial Wisdom Iterations
Using my sketches, I started designing three of the best sketches in Illustrator. Using the font, Bebas Neue Regular, I made the large letters for both the first and second iteration. Bilo sans was then used for the smaller letters in the second iteration. My third design made use of Times New Roman in order to have that formal-book-type style. After 10+ design and color iterations I landed on these three designs.

Proverbial Wisdom Final Iteration
I chose the first proverbial wisdom iteration for my final design because it showed the most potential with color and use of negative space. The second iteration had too much gestalt which made it feel uncomfortable and the third iteration messed with your brain and eyes due to the overwhelming amount of text.
Moving first to color, I utilized the spot gradient to create lots of color to make my design pop.

Switching the spot color gradient to the smaller letters, and using darker colors yielded the final result. I also inverting black and white.
